Emerging Leader Program

The Emerging Leader Program at Oakton provides opportunities to build leadership skills, get involved in student life and explore Oakton’s resources to ensure your success as a student. Students in the program participate in a range of special activities, workshops and training opportunities that sharpen leadership and project management skills. Free and open to all Oakton students, this two-tier program can help you make the most of your college experience. Whether you complete the 25-hour Level 1 program or the 50-hour Level 2 program, the benefits are endless.

  • Improve leadership skills based on your personal leadership style and strengths.
  • Meet other Oakton students and make new friends.
  • Create an action plan and identify resources to help you meet your personal goals.

Once you complete Level 1, you'll receive a $50 Oakton Bookstore gift card and be eligible for Level 2, which will further refine your skills! Students who complete Level 2 receive a $300 scholarship.

Level 1 activities include:

  • Attendance at five meetings.
  • Three workshops.
  • A group project.
  • Participation in the DiSC Leadership Inventory workshop.
  • Volunteering for three campus events.

Take the next step in your Oakton journey by becoming an emerging leader! For information about meeting dates and times, contact the Office of Student Life and Campus Inclusion.
