Mechatronics is an exciting field that combines mechanical, electrical and computer engineering to develop modern electromechanical automation equipment.
Following the
pathway, the Advanced Mechatronics A.A.S. degree at Oakton College prepares students for designing, programming and troubleshooting sophisticated industrial automation systems. You will acquire a wide range of technical skills from multi-disciplinary areas, including electronics, robotics, machine vision, programmable logic controllers (PLC), and human-machine interface (HMI) devices.
With a foundation in electrical engineering, you’ll learn to program the high-tech automation systems powering smart factories.
Classes align with real-world industry needs. While building your skill set, you’ll also build your network. Oakton students have resources available like the apprenticeship program and the Career and Transfer Center, which connects you to a vast network of manufacturing industry partners. Oakton has a partnership with the Technology and Manufacturing Association (TMA) that awards credit for specific courses and opens doors to further training opportunities.Graduates can expect strong outcomes. You will be ready for field service technician roles in advanced manufacturing leading to automation engineer positions with a few years of related experience.
