Oakton Recognizes 26 Nursing Graduates at Pinning Ceremony

Des Plaines, Ill. (Dec. 18, 2020) – Twenty-six students completed Oakton Community College’s Nursing Program this fall and are now on their way to beginning rewarding careers in the health care industry. Oakton recognized the fall 2020 nursing graduates at a drive-up pinning ceremony Thursday, Dec. 17, at the Des Plaines campus. Director of Marketing Receives Communicator of the Year Award

(Oct. 27, 2020) Displaying the quality of talented leadership at Oakton Community College, Andrea Lehmacher, Ed.D., director of Marketing, has been named the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) District 3 Communicator of the Year. The award, presented at a virtual ceremony on Oct. 22, recognizes demonstrated leadership and ability in the area of two-year college communications. Read More

Oakton TRIO Program awarded $1.7 million grant to support student success

(Aug. 24, 2020) Oakton College will receive a federal Student Support Services (SSS) grant of $1,745,805 over five years from the U.S. Department of Education to help more students succeed in and graduate from college. High School Students Celebrate Earning Nursing Credentials from Oakton

(Aug. 14, 2020) Each year, Oakton helps high school students get a jump on earning college credit by offering dual credit opportunities. Recently, 61 Maine Township High School District 207 students celebrated graduating high school while also relishing in earning their first post-secondary credential – the Basic Nurse Assistant Training (BNAT) Certificate. Oakton Honors Program plants seed for graduate to join Doctors Without Borders

(July 2, 2020) Maryana Nissan of Niles credits Oakton Community College’s Honors Program for much of her academic success. This fall, Nissan will attend the University of Illinois-Chicago, where she will major in neuroscience. However, she doesn’t plan on stopping there. Her ultimate goal is to ally herself with the humanitarian group Doctors Without Borders. Read More
