Parthvi Rana

Parthvi Rana wants to pursue a career in computer science. “With technology, you can make a lot of positive change in the world. As an immigrant, I have a huge opportunity to represent my country and women in the field," she says. Parthvi is gaining a strong foundation at Oakton, where she’s earning her associate degree before transferring to a four-year school.

“Going to Oakton relieves me and my family of the financial burden—it’s a smart financial choice,” said Parthvi. Plus, she’s getting lots of opportunities as a leader on campus and in the classroom with the support of her professors and fellow students. In 2021, she was elected president of the Student Government Association, where she’s working to build community, despite the challenges of the pandemic. “I want to create a community where everyone is accepted, where no one is left out—where everyone is free.”
