Oakton College Weather Update - Classes and services will be held virtually Jan. 23
Due to the forecast of extreme cold temperatures, in-person classes scheduled at the Des Plaines, Skokie campuses, and the Evanston Health Careers Center are cancelled on Friday, January 23.
Classes will be held remotely to the extent possible, and services will be available virtually. This applies to both morning and evening classes.
Although classes and services will be virtual, the Des Plaines and Ray Hartstein Campus (Skokie) will remain open to the public as a place of warmth and safety. Endeavor Health has confirmed that the COS building at Evanston Hospital’s campus will also remain open.
Classes will be held virtually on Friday, Jan. 23, to the extent possible, and more information will be communicated by your instructor via email and/or your D2L shell located in the myOakton student portal.
In addition, instructors will reach out to students regarding the status of classes scheduled at off-campus locations, including clinicals and adult/continuing education courses.
Members of the facilities department, Oakton Police Department and other essential personnel should report to campus, as determined by their supervisor.
Supervisors will contact essential personnel to advise them of assignments. All other employees should work remotely to the extent possible.
Supervisors should exercise flexibility for employees with additional childcare responsibilities due to K-12 closures.
The Early Childhood Education Center of the Skokie Campus will be closed.
Additional information will be communicated to students and employees via email, and updates will be posted on this page.
