Technology Equipment for Students in Need

Mobile WiFi hotspots and/or Chromebooks are available to students in credit classes to assist in their remote learning.Request to borrow equipment can be submitted online or by contacting the IT helpdesk at 847.635.1965 or helpdesk@oakton.edu; students who request equipment before the start of a term will be contacted closer to the start date.

Students both in-district and out-of-district who request to borrow equipment will be required to fill out a Technology Checkout Agreement. The equipment belongs to Oakton College, and there is no cost to borrow it; however, students may be charged if the equipment is not returned in working order by the return date indicated on the Technology Checkout Agreement.

Please note: there are a limited number of WiFi hotspots and Chromebooks available, and not all students who request equipment are guaranteed to receive it.

What do you do if you have technology trouble at Oakton.

Your first stop should be your instructor for any class-related difficulties during class. Your instructor will either solve the problem or elevate it to the correct person in the college. As your network account is tied to registration, if you are dropped from class for non-payment, your network account is immediately disabled. At that point, you will have to work with Registration and Records, the cashier's office, and the instructor to re-register for the class. Once you are re-registered, your account will be re-enabled.

You may, in some instances, be referred to the IT Help Desk for further assistance. The IT Help Desk's main function is to support administrative/employee programs and select student issues.
