Oakton College's Fire Science Department awards credit for college-level learning accomplished while working as an EMT.
In efforts to recognize quality training and to encourage continued education pursuits, the Fire Science Department is offering credit (8 credit hours) for FIR220 - Emergency Medical Technician course upon receiving documented evidence of:
Students must submit a transcript from their training center and show evidence of achieving 80% in the
final examination in order to receive the credit. Scores below 80% are not eligible for credit via prior learning. Please note that acceptance of this credit will not result in an Emergency Medical Technician Certificate; the awarding of the credit will be applied toward either a Fire Science Technology Certificate or the AAS Fire Science Technology Program.

The Fire Science Chair will review the transcript/report to confirm that a cumulative score of 80% in their training program was attained in order to receive the credit.
